When you buy a car, it’s always recommended that you visit the garage dealership that you have bought it from (whether from new or not) to ensure that you get exactly what is needed for anything that goes wrong. A lot of business is lost to independent garages due to misconceptions as to how they operate.
They Know Your Car Inside Out
The dealership that you have gone to will usually only be selling one specific make of car. Sure they’ll have a few stragglers in too, but an official car dealership will be sponsored, ran or owned by one car company – be it Vauxhall, Mercedes, Ford; you get the jist. With that in mind, their technicians are trained to know all of the makes of cars that that company has produced.
There Are Specialists
Not only will they know your car inside out, but they are specialists specifically in model that you are presenting to them. If you know that your garage is registered with a car manufacturer, you can bet your bottom dollar that the guys who are operating on your vehicle have owned one themselves in the past, and that’s if they if they don’t currently have one now. If you are taking your car to a BMW specialist, there is more chance that they will know exactly what is wrong with your vehicle, from every tick to every stutter that may have appeared. And with most of us owning more high-spec cars now than ever before, you need to know that you are placing its care into the right hands.
They May Be Cheaper
There has been a study conducted where more than five thousand garages offered quotes for different jobs that they could do – whether it was an MOT, service or something a little more complicated. Out of those five thousand, a high percentage showed that they were running at the same price as independent, local garages from which people assumed they were getting a better deal, if not slightly cheaper. Bearing in mind that the work is being done by a reputable and licensed dealer in the first place, you are more likely to get more for your money from a dealership than you are getting the work done yourself.
Gen vs Non Gen
You can always be assured that you are going to be getting a genuine part at a licensed dealership garage. If you find it too expensive, at least there are non-gen parts to take advantage of – but it’s best that you get offered the real deal first. Other independent garages may be offering the non-gen parts but putting on more costs for labour to balance it out, or overcharging you for the parts at hand. When you go genuine, you at least know that there is the possibility of a warranty and more likelihood of it being compatible with your vehicle. The best thing that you can have is car that continues to work after you have taken it in to get serviced or fixed; specialists don’t want to see you coming back to them. They’d rather have pride in their brand.
